How do I manage CALPADS-Reported Work-Based Learning Data in PowerSchool?

Background:

Beginning in the 2020-21 School Year, schools and districts serving grades 9-12 are required to report work-based learning data that will provide “additional opportunities for students to demonstrate their preparedness for college/career through the College/Career Indicator (CCI) on the California School Dashboard.”

There are now 12 work-based learning programs or activities that schools and districts should track and report to CALPADS.

  • Internships
  • Student-led Enterprise
  • Virtual/Simulated Work-Based Learning
  • Registered Pre-Apprenticeship Program
  • Non-registered Pre-Apprenticeship Program
  • Job Corps
  • Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
  • YouthBuild
  • California Conservation Corp
  • Regional Occupational Center/Program
  • Transition Work-Based Experience*
  • Transition Classroom-Based Work Exploration*

*Only for Students with Disabilities who have an IEP.

This article will demonstrate how to add or edit a Work-based Learning Student Data in PowerSchool for a single student. 

Old Interface: From the Start Page > Select the student completer > State/Province-CA > Work-Based Learning

New Interface: Start page > Select a student > Compliance > Work-Based Learning.

Adding a new WBLR Record

Select New tab > select the Applicable Academic Year WBLR Type Code.

Submit when complete.

NOTE:  Student-led Enterprise, and Virtual/Simulated Work-based Learning require more fields to be completed than the other learning types.

  • Internships Require:
    • Employer Evaluation
      • Work-based Learning Hours – External
      • School Sponsored – Yes/No
      • Certified Supervisor – Yes/No
      • State Course Code – Embedded Work-Based Learning
    • Student-Led Enterprise requires:
      • Work-based Learning Hours – External
      • State Course Code – Embedded Work-Based Learning
    • Virtual/Simulated Work-Based Learning requires:
      • Work-based Learning Hours – External
      • State Course Code – Embedded Work-Based Learning
