How do I edit an existing Incident in PowerSchool for State Reporting in Vermont?

Introduction

After the initial Incident has been entered, if a data element was missed, the EdFusion state error reports will identify what is missing.

Incident Categories

Depending on what data element is the issue, there are four Incident Element Categories to choose from.

  • Action
    • The “Action” or consequence for the Incident.
  • Object
    • The item used in the Incident. (If applicable)
  • Behavior
    • What happened in the Incident. i.e. Insubordination, illegal behavior.
  • Attribute
    • Encompasses a variety of data elements. i.e. Criminal Offense, Violence Related, Weapon.

There are three options when editing an Incident.

  1. Adding an Element under Incident Element.
  2. Editing an Element under Participants (Incident Builder).
    • Typically for Victims and Offenders
  3. Editing an Element under Incident Elements
    • Typically for Victims and Offenders

    1 – Adding an Element (under Incident Elements)

    Click the green + sign to the right of Incident Elements > select the desired Element.

    Once the Element has been completed. Save, then drag to the applicable section under Participants.

    2 – Edit an Incident (under Participants)

    3 – Edit an Incident (under Incident Elements)

    To EDIT: Hover over the to edit or add information to that person or incident element.

    • Victim name or Offender Name – Participant (person)
    • Behavior (hand)
    • Action (star)

    Victim or Offender Element

    Click on the pencil icon to the right. This will open the Participant Attribute.

    Depending on what Attribute is selected, a second dropdown may appear. Complete as applicable and click Update Participant Attributes.

    Behavior (hand)

    Click on the pencil icon to the right. This will open the Behavior.

    Note: There must be a Primary Behavior selected.

    Action (star)

    Click on the pencil icon to the right. This will open the Action (consequence).

    Adding a Participant (Person)

    If you need to add a Participant > use the green + sign to the right of Incident Builder.

    Once the Element has been completed. Save then drag to the applicable section underneath.

    Be sure to save along the way.
