How do I download Direct Certification files from EdFusion in Vermont?

Introduction

Direct Certification is the process used to obtain the list of students in your school(s) who directly certify for free or reduced lunch services reported by other agencies of Vermont. Referenced from the Knowledge Base hosted by the AOE.

Monthly the Agency of Education (AOE) processes district provided student data through a Direct Certification validation process to identity those students who are eligible/participating in the Free Reduced Lunch (FRL) program. The Direct Certification file is typically produced by the AOE on the 20th of each month.

The school meals program application year runs July 1 – June 30th. Each year enrollment in this program is reset on July 1st and it does not roll over automatically from year to year. Students and their family must reapply.

Step 1 – Log in to EdFusion

Using your credentials, log into EdFusion.

Step 2 – Navigating to the Direct Certification Report

From the homepage of EdFusion > Insight > Reporting Group (Data Marts)

Once on the Insight tab, choose the following from the drop downs.

  • Selection Criteria
    • Source
      • Analysis Data Mart
      • Reporting Group
        • Direct Certification for Free or Reduced Lunch
      • Filter Criteria
        • Select 2023 School Year
        • Submitting Org – will auto populate after the School Year has been selected
      • Click Create

This takes you to the Insight: Data Marts: Reporting Group: Generate File(s) > Selection Criteria where filter settings need to be selected.

Step 3 – Downloading Direct Certification Report

Once the Direct Certification file has been requested, scroll down to under Export History to Download the requested file. Under Action, click download to retrieve the file.  

To view the pertinent fields and information in the Direct Certification file use the following link to access the “Knowledge Base” hosted by the Agency of Education (AOE).
