In order for parents to create an account on parent portal an admin will need to assign parents an ID and Password in PowerSchool. Their ID and Password will be linked to their students’ account. Once assigned parents will use this ID and Passwords to create an account on parent portal. This article will walk you through how to Assign IDs and Passwords for Parents.
Step 1. Log onto PowerSchool
Step 2. Navigate to People > Students > Assign IDs and Passwords
Note: You may need to have permission to access this page. If so, please reach out to your school’s PS Administrator.

Step 3. Choose ID and Password formatting
From the Assign IDs & Passwords page you can select the length at which you want IDs and Passwords to be generated. You may also use this page to assign IDs to the entire student population, or a group of students (if you want to only assign IDs for a group of students you will need to make the selection on the home page before navigating to Special Functions). Note: You can also use this page to assign student IDs for the student portal of PowerSchool. Assigning this access will not impact parent access to Parent Portal.

Step 4: Confirm/Spot-check that your passwords and IDs meet expectation.
Once IDs and Passwords have been assigned you can confirm the Parent access has been populated by selecting a student from the homepage, navigating to > Student Profile > Guardian and Student Account Access.

Note: Below Parent Access Accounts you can individually assign IDs and Passwords for students/parents by click the Auto-assign IDs and Passwords for this student Link
Once parents create an account you will be able to view their names below as well as Edit or Remove parent accounts if necessary.

How do I find students with missing WED ID’s in PowerSchool?
If they are stored in the State_StudentNumber field, as it is with most state IDs, you can simply do a student search query for “State_StudentNumber=” and all of the blank values should show up!
